[ARTIST ANNOUNCEMENT] – Ant Thomaz
by: Simon Clark
Introducing Ant Thomaz – Performing on Sunday 28 June 2026 on the Scottish Citylink Discovery Stage
Glasgow-based artist and singer-songwriter Ant Thomaz brings a rich, genre-blending sound shaped by years of live performance and musical exploration. Combining indie, soul, pop and rock, his music carries a warmth and honesty that feels both personal and inclusive.
Ant’s journey began busking on the streets of Glasgow, where he built a following and formed his band. A major breakthrough came with a performance on the Celtic Connections Danny Kyle Stage, which led to opening for Big Country at the O2 Glasgow. Since then, he has appeared at some of Scotland’s most recognised venues and festivals, including the OVO Hydro, Usher Hall, SWG3, Belladrum, Kelburn Garden Party, Eden Festival and Fringe by the Sea.
He has supported an impressive range of artists, from Eddi Reader and Mànran to Kool & The Gang, Starsailor, Roy Ayers and Shaun Ryder’s Black Grape. His song We Are One, featuring BAFTA-winning performer Karen Dunbar, was named Song of the Week on BBC Radio Scotland’s Afternoon Show and received airplay on BBC 6 Music.
Ant is known for poignant lyrics and a soulful, raw musical style that draws deeply from personal experience and cultural heritage. His debut solo EP 520, released in 2023, earned strong praise across Scottish media, while recent and upcoming releases continue to receive widespread BBC support.
