About Katie Nicoll
Katie Nicoll, named the “#1 ‘Best Unsigned Artist’ coming out of Dundee in 2025” by the
Courier, is a Scottish pop singer/songwriter- best known for her catchy songs written about
navigating the early 20s, missing her childhood dog, heartbreak and female friendship.
The recent Graphic Design graduate has been backed by the likes of the BBC Scotland- with two of her tracks being crowned ‘Track of the Week’ in both 2022 and 2024. Her track ‘bye!!!’, released in late 2024, was also given this title by BBC Introducing, who have continuously championed her career over the last three years, describing her as having “lyrics that storytell better than Taylor Swift”.
However, as a lifelong Swiftie, Katie would beg to differ. Her singles have also been featured on Radio 1’s ‘Future Alternative’ show. Go Radio in Glasgow have also shone a spotlight on Katie, as a two-time recipient of their ‘Fresh Artist’ of the week. When interviewed on the show in March 2025, presenter Zoe Kelly admitted to being such a fan of Katie’s single ‘Jodi Said’, that she has even found herself playing it to her friends at house parties. That comment alone proves that Katie can for sure write a good hook!
Originally hailing from Kirriemuir, Katie shares a hometown with the infamous AC/DC vocalist Bon Scott. With the singer’s ties to the Scottish town, the community hosts the festival ‘Bonfest’ every year in his memory. It was here that Katie made her live debut, nervously performing to music fans from all over the world at just 13 years old.
